We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis, a global sustainability accreditor. This is an improvement on the silver that we were awarded last year and puts the business in the top five percent of companies assessed for sustainability.
EcoVadis is an online measuring tool for a company’s sustainability performance. It allows companies to assess the ESG performance of their global suppliers, and considers a range of sustainability issues, which are grouped into four themes: ‘Environment’, ‘Labour and Human Rights’, ‘Ethics’, and ‘Sustainable Procurement’.
The platform is used by more than 90,000 companies across 200 industries in more than 160 countries.
A company must score between 67 and 74 out of 100 to be awarded a gold medal. Churchill consistently performed better than the industry average in all categories, with its environmental score of 80 a particular highlight. Churchill’s performance in this area and in ‘Labour and Human Rights’ was rated as ‘advanced’ in the assessment.
Churchill’s group environment manager Hannah Dales said: “We are committed to improving our ESG performance and this award is recognition of the progress we are making. It’s a fantastic achievement for Churchill as the criteria encompasses a wide range of factors.”
