In National Apprenticeship Week we are focusing on a number of our colleagues who are continuing to develop their knowledge, skills and experience through an apprenticeship with us.
One of these is our account manager Fiorello Maffei, who is currently working toward a Coaching Practitioner Level 5 qualification, which is equivalent to a degree course.
His job involves managing multiple sites across the London region. He is also a trainer at our Portfolio Centre of Excellence, which offers industry-leading learning and development to those providing our Portfolio By Churchill concierge-level cleaning service.
He said: ‘I have been with Churchill for 10 years and the company has helped me to learn all about the FM industry.
‘I was sharing the knowledge I had acquired over the years with colleagues in small, quick courses and I enjoyed empowering each one with different perspectives which enabled them to do their jobs better.
‘So, when the company offered this apprenticeship programme to the account managers I jumped at the opportunity.
‘The course has opened my eyes about how to look within the individual colleague I am training and shown me how to get better results by using the knowledge and skills the person already has.’
‘It is helping me personally to gain new skills in areas I had not previously had experience of and it is also enabling me to be of more help to colleagues, allowing them to develop their full potential and achieve much more than they initially thought they could.
‘I would 100 per cent recommend an apprenticeship, because it helps you to look within yourself and expand your awareness and knowledge.
‘And it has helped me to be better able to live up to Churchill’s values of always seeking better and doing the right thing, when I come to make difficult decisions.’
