In Learning At Work Week, meet Erin Landells. She is studying for a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration – equivalent to two A-levels – while working with our business support team on Team Valley trading estate, in Gateshead.
She said: ‘I have always been interested in the ‘behind the scenes’ aspect of businesses and in this role I can be part of that. I am really enjoying it, as my work helps other people in the business.
‘I would love to become more experienced and more involved, such as becoming a manager and, hopefully, my apprenticeship will help me on the way to achieving that.
‘This role was advertised on Indeed and when I came for my interview, I instantly loved the atmosphere, and the fact that those interviewing me were interested in me as a person and wanted to know not just what I would bring to them but how they would benefit me – and the apprenticeship is part of that.
‘Before I took the job I was in college studying subjects that were not interesting and finding a job to fit around college hours was nearly impossible, so I felt I could not make money or have fun.
‘Thanks to the apprenticeship, I now have independence and can learn as part of my working day. I am also able take home money, which means I can progress outside work.’
