Values matter to us. They motivate and guide us and shape the way we do the things.
Our three core values are:
- Always seek better
- Always do right
- Always put people first
Creating employment opportunities
As part of doing the right thing, we strive to build teams from the areas people live in so that, through our work, we are part of local communities all across the UK.
One of the ways we do this is by providing a flourishing apprenticeship scheme. But the opportunities we offer are not limited to just our own people – we also reach out to veterans, young people leaving care and those suffering domestic abuse.
We are helping veterans via our partnership with JobOppO, a veterans’ employment community built by veterans, for veterans. We have achieved a gold award from the Armed Forces Covenant, which pledges that those who serve, or who have served, in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Find out more here.
Our operations managing director Louisa Clarke, who is herself a veteran, has been appointed to the Government’s Veterans Advisory Board. Read more.
We have also signed up to the Care Leavers Covenant, a national inclusion programme that helps care leavers aged 16-25 live independently. It aims to provide support and bespoke opportunities for those leaving care which supplements that statutorily provided by local authorities.
And we are partnering with Drive Forward, a London-based charity that helps young adults transition from care into a career and achieve their full potential.
Recently, we also signed up to the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant – a pledge taken by businesses to support women affected by domestic abuse to enter, remain in, or re-enter the workplace.
For all these groups, their employability leads to improved financial situations, greater skills, enhanced wellbeing and better life chances. Read more here.
We protect the environment
We also ensure that our business practices safeguard our environment for future generations and have clear environmental targets. Our goals for 2022 are:
- To have 100 per cent recycling facilities in all offices
- A 25 per cent reduction of waste going into landfill
- To have all Churchill employees trained in environmental awareness.
We recently gained a gold award from EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings, up from our silver award last year, which now puts us in the top five per cent of companies assessed for sustainability.
We have also signed up to the Sustainable Facilities Management Index, which will enable us to monitor and improve our sustainability performance, both internally and in the service we offer to clients.
And, in a bid to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, we have appointed phs as our main washroom service provider. phs collects sanitary and nappy waste from our clients and takes it to an Energy From Waste plant so, as well as decreasing items in landfill, it means 150 households can be powered with electricity for whole year.

We continuously strive to put our values into action in everything we do and on World Values Day, we have a chance to reflect on the efforts being made and share our progress and the positive outcomes achieved.
